Not everyone notices early warning signs, which is why a simple non-invasive ultrasound scan can mean the difference between early detection and long-term illness, disability, or death.

Using harmless sound waves, ultrasound scans screen for:

  • blockages and buildup of plaque in carotid arteries
  • an abdominal aneurysm in the aorta
  • circulatory problems that may lead to peripheral arterial disease
  • any tumors, cysts, masses, and stones in the gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, liver, and thyroid gland
  • and many other adnormalities.

Since Medicare and most insurance companies will not pay for preventative screenings, most doctors do not refer patients for ultrasound testing.

However, thanks to several generous grants and other support, the Lions HealthFirst Foundation provides these health screenings at the lowest possible cost (or no cost for some qualifying seniors).

After the 60-minute exam, the screenings are sent to a certified radiologist M.D. and certified cardiologist M.D. for review.

All reports are then made available for the primary care physician.
